As of March 31, 2021, Tether claimed to have more than $35.5 billion in US dollar equivalents at these institutions, according to filings. The New York Attorney General’s Office (NYAG) shared them with CoinDesk in response to a state Freedom of Information (FOIL) request filed in June 2021. The documents appear to have been created on August 4, 2021, and serve as a snapshot of Tether’s operations that day. Another $5.1 billion was detailed under “lending USDT” and other assets totaling $40.6 billion, roughly equivalent to the 40.8 billion USDT in circulation at the time.
